About Geothermal
Geothermal Heating (geothermal heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, geo-exchange systems, etc.) are fast becoming the heating method of choice for many Americans because of their incredible system efficiencies.
The earth’s surface is a constant temperature or about 45°-55° F under the frostline (6-8 ft. in most of the US). That temperature is perfect for regulating the heat inside of the home, when temperatures outside vary from 0°-100° F throughout the seasons. A ground source heat pump simply cycles a water substance through a large ground loop of piping under the ground to capture some of that heat, and run it through the heat pump, which functions off a refrigeration cycle to make those entering temperatures of 45°-55° into a comfortable 70° inside the home. You can learn more about geothermal heating using a ground source heat pump in our geothermal content library section.
